Earlier chapters referenced the minimum monthly inspection quota underpinning the 'ZERO DEFECT' PSI standard — this chapter covers the actual real table (Annexure 3.01) specifying exactly how many inspections each officer grade must complete per month, by installation type.
Minimum Monthly Inspection Quota — Real Table
| Installation Type | Sr.DEE | DEE | AEE | SSE | SE | JEE |
|---|---|---|---|---|---|---|
| Traction Sub-stations | 1 | 1 | 2 | 4 | 4 | 4 |
| Switching Stations | 1 | 2 | 3 | 4 | 4 | 4 |
| PSI Depots | 1 | 2 | 4 | — | — | — |
| Grid Sub-stations | 2 in a year | 1 | 2 | 1 | 1 | 1 |
| Office Inspection | 1 | — | 1 | — | — | — |
- These figures are the MINIMUM quantum per month (except Grid Sub-station Sr.DEE quota, which is annual).
- For Supervisory Staff (SSE/SE/JEE), inspections pertain only to their respective jurisdiction — not the whole division.
- The maintenance schedules prescribed elsewhere (fortnightly through yearly, covered in earlier chapters) should also be kept in view alongside this inspection quota — the two systems work together, not as substitutes.
- The quota of inspections by HQ officers may be laid down separately by CEE.
Real Checklists — OHE/PSI Depots
A real, 10-item inspection checklist for OHE/PSI depots — genuinely mixing administrative items with technical ones, reflecting that a depot inspection isn't purely equipment-focused:
- Staff grievance register, Quarter register, Attendance register — administrative/welfare items.
- Cleanliness of depot, upkeep of stores, stock position in stores — housekeeping items.
- Compliance of audit & account inspection notes, Test & Trial report, availability of latest drawings/specifications, planning and progress of section works — genuinely technical/governance items.
For subordinate offices specifically, the checklist is a similar but shorter 6-item version: attendance register, compliance of audit & account inspection notes, compliance of Officer's inspection notes, test & trial reports, availability of drawings/specifications, and progress/planning of section works.
Grid Sub-station Inspection — What's Actually Checked
- Watch for any modification made/being made in the power supply arrangement — connecting to the earlier chapter's point about SSE(PSI) needing to track grid inter-connection changes.
- Check for any equipment under breakdown likely to increase the risk of traction power supply interruption.
- Note meter readings and record important data on power supply parameters: daily Maximum Demand, and variation in voltage, frequency, and power factor — directly tying back to the real reliability thresholds covered in the earlier Power Supply & Tariff chapter (25-27.5kV, 48.5-51.5Hz).
